About

Neil Griffin is a writer and naturalist. Raised on the prairies and trained as a wildlife biologist, he abandoned the glitz and glamour of tropical fieldwork for the financial stability of freelance writing. His acclaimed essays on Canadian wilderness have been anthologized in Points of Interest (Greystone) and featured on Great Canadian Longform. In addition, he is a former finalist for CBC's Poetry Prize, and the author of two forthcoming children's books on natural science (Planet of the Bats, Orca 2026; Deserts, Orca 2028).

He holds an MFA from the University of Victoria, where he is an instructor in the Writing Department.
